Fire-retardant protection is a specific defence against the risks associated with fire, heat and flames. It aims to slow the spread of fire and heat, thus reducing the risk of fire or severe burns in the event of exposure to high temperatures or flames. Although these garments offer increased resistance to fire, it is important to note that they do not guarantee total protection in the event of prolonged or direct contact with a source of intense heat.
Natpro's flame-retardant protective clothing is specially designed to enhance workers' safety in heat-risk environments. Meeting NFPA2112 standards, they are an essential protective barrier in industrial sectors exposed to combustion hazards, such as petroleum, welding, metallurgy and gas.
These garments are made from two distinct types of fabric: treated fabrics and inherently flame-retardant fabrics. The former are made from treated yarns or receive chemical treatment after weaving, offering fire resistance that may fade with repeated washing. In contrast, intrinsically flame-retardant fabrics, such as aramid fibres or wool, retain their constant flame-retardant properties, even after multiple washings.
Choosing flame-retardant clothing wisely is critical when the work environment presents risks of combustion or burns.
