Metallurgy and welding

Metals: Indispensable to our daily lives
Our clothing: Essential for your safety

The risk of accidents in metalworking and welding is relatively high. Injuries to fingers, hands and eyes are common. Metal splinters and dust, hot objects and surfaces, proximity to molten metal, and the use of milling cutters and drills make working on metal a high-risk activity for workers.

  • Thermal hazards are a serious concern for all aluminum smelting processes. Furnace temperatures can reach 900 degrees Celsius. Workers are at risk not only of thermal burns but also of severe skin burns from direct contact with molten metal.
  • Depending on the type of metal and the process stage, heat can reach up to 1,500 degrees Celsius in foundry operations.
  • In welding, accidental contact with heated metal will cause skin burns or ignite workers' clothing, resulting in burns over a larger s of the body. The welding arc can reach temperatures of 5,500 degrees Celsius. Spark projections can reach up to 10 meters from the welding area.

In all cases, gloves, mittens and other clothing must be carefully selected according to the risk to which the worker is exposed, with sufficient thermal protection. Natpro offers you: high-temperature gloves and mittens, heat-resistant leather gloves and clothing, flame-retardant and arc-resistant clothing, and aluminized clothing. You'll be well protected in the heat!
